It’s been a while since my last Substack. Welcome to all my new subscribers! For the last couple of months, I’ve been busy finalizing my book, Hate The Game: Economic Cheat Codes for Life, Love, and Work and catching up on everything I neglected while I was finalizing it.
The copy-edits are done, and the book is currently being formatted for the presses. In about a month or so, I will have the cover (exciting!), galleys (very exciting!), and pre-order sales channels (extremely exciting!) If it wasn’t abundantly evident, I’m excited to share my book with the world.
When I started writing, my main goal was to create something that I would be proud of and happily sell with authentic enthusiasm. To me, one of the worst vocations in life is sales for a shoddy product. Waking up every morning to manipulate people into spending money on something between worthless and harmful? Couldn’t be me. But I can stand behind the product I will be selling with a straight back and a genuine smile.
In other news, I recently wrote an op-ed with Floyd Marinescu about why Canada needs a land value tax to solve its housing problems. This was my third time writing an op-ed about land value tax. I wrote about Detroit’s land value tax proposal for Forbes and why the United States could broadly benefit from a land value tax for Business Insider. Writing about the same topic over and over again might seem dull. But I personally never get tired of writing about land value taxes. Repeating that topic is an excellent opportunity to find new ways, techniques and methods for writing about the same thing. Because often, it’s not what I say but how I say it that makes the difference in how well my ideas are received.
You will hear more from me when I have more to share about my book, like the cover and excerpts. Thank you for following me on this journey!
Congrats on your upcoming book, Daryl. As a fellow author, I am so excited for you. Best wishes for a superb launch!
